Our Vision
The Austrian Society for Disaster Risk Reduction (ASDRR) has the goal to contribute to the reduction of the disaster risk in developing countries.
In order to do so we want to establish a standardized organization, communication and information platform where we can support the cooperation between Austrian and international partners. Together with already existing contacts to local partners in Southeast Europe (Balkan), the Southern Caucasus, Central-Asia, the Himalayan region, and Southeast Asia we can provide DRR Know How to the ODA recipient countries. Our vision is to bring these international partners together with the Austrian competence in the public, private, science and the charity sectors at one table.
Working together to improve the disaster risk management
We want to transfer the Austrian experts Know How and promote our standardized and certified products to potential partners. Whether during Courses, Workshops, or a yearly multiple week summer school we communicate and educate our knowledge to prospective experts in the field of DRR. In the future our international partners are able to realize numerous projects by themselves. Additionally, small and medium-size companies as well as charities without international experience jet may be able to become active in the development assistance by realizing projects in cooperation with experienced partners.
Through these steps we contribute actively to reduce the natural risk in developing countries. Following the risk management cycle we will also provide disaster assistance and help during and after an event. By training local authorities how to deal with catastrophic events developing countries resilience can be improved and societies can recover faster after an event - build back better.
